Five things to watch out for this weekend

The GST Council is to meet on Sunday to review some of the rates on which industry has expressed displeasure, besides amending the draft rules. This will be the 16th meeting of the Council, chaired by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and comprising state counterparts, since it was set up in September 2016.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is to inaugurate a one-week workshop for economics teachers in IIT-Delhi on Sunday, which will see Chief Economic Adviser Arvind Subramanian deliver lectures on various aspects of the Indian economy, including demonetisation, Goods and Services Tax, the open economy and universal basic income.

JEE Advanced results will be declared on the official website on Sunday at 10 am. The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced is conducted for admission to various undergraduate programmes across IITs.

The AAP is planning to stage a country-wide protest to highlight farmers’ plight on Saturday and demand a loan waiver for them. This was announced by the party's national executive, which also spelt out plans to strengthen the party's organisational structure across the country.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Minister for Food Processing Industries Harsimrat Kaur Badal are to lay the foundation stone of a Rs 130-cr mega food park of the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation on Sunday. The project, to come up in the Industrial Growth Centre in Cherthala, Alappuzha, is expected to give a boost to the country’s food processing industry, particularly seafood products.
