The mining activity in Goa will halt from today following the Supreme Court order on closure of iron ore extraction. The mining ban is likely to affect the State revenue and around 2 lakh miners would lose their jobs. Renewal of mining leases were quashed by SC last month.

Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd will launch its Rs 4,230 cr IPO today. The sale is part of the government’s Rs 75,000 cr divestment process and the government will divest up to 20 per cent in the company. It has fixed the price band at Rs 1,215-1,240.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Manipur today to inaugurate the 105 Indian Science Congress at Manipur University. The three-day Congress, attended by around 5,000 delegates including 2,000 scientists, will be held for the first time in the State. Dalai Lama and Nobel Laureates Muhammad Yunus and Hiroshi Amano will be also be attending the event. PM Modi will also inaugurate Mary Kom Regional Foundation in Imphal.

Odisha will host the three day ‘East Meets East’ conference today. The international conference will have delegates from 16 countries and from the eastern and north eastern states of India. The Purbasa meet will have discussions on improving ties between the eastern countries and eastern states.

Theatres across Tamil Nadu will go on an indefinite strike against the government from today. The theatre owners demanded abolition of 8 per cent LBET tax. The Tamil Film Producers Council will also halt the production and post-production of Tamil movies following the issue between the Council and digital service providers.
