A meeting of State power ministers begins in Kochi today. The two-day meeting will deliberate on sectoral reforms ahead of the winter session of Parliament, in which proposed amendments to the Electricity Act will be taken up. Ministers will discuss issues on power generation, distribution and transmission, coal production and supply, and so on.

RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan will today appear before Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee to make a presentation on non-performing assets. Rajan will answer queries raised by the members. Revenue Secretary Hasmukh Adhia has also been summoned by the panel.

A commerce ministry panel will today discuss in Goa ways to arrest the decline in exports, which have been in the negative zone since December last year. The meeting will be chaired by Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

The Apple Watch will be available in India today. The high-end device is expected to cost over ₹30,000, including taxes. In the US, Apple Watch’s base model is priced $349 (about ₹22,628). Apple has launched 34 variants of Apple Watch, with prices going up to $10,000 for the luxury edition.

The south zone bench of the National Green Tribunal in Chennai is expected to give its interim order on the Yettinahole project today. The ₹13,000-crore project proposes to transport 24.01 tmcft of water from Yettinahole through a hardened steel pipeline and open canal to Karnataka’s drought-prone districts.
