Funskool India Ltd, a venture of MRF, will launch science kits in their stores across the country starting October.
Speaking on the sidelines of the inauguration of the first Funskool store here recently, K John Baby, Chief Executive Officer, said the kits will be introduced in collaboration with a Germany-based science kits manufacturer.
The kit will include sets for building wind and solar energy model, engineering, chemistry and physics set.
The company will also focus on expanding their brand – Giggles, Handycrafts, Play and Learn and Fundo, in addition to representing their foreign counterparts.
R Jeswant, Senior Vice-President – Sales and Marketing, Funskool India Ltd, said, “We are planning to open two retail outlets at Madurai in Tamil Nadu and Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh.” He said while tier II cities will continue to remain the focus of the company, they will invest in bigger cities depending on the opportunity.
The plan is to open 20 stores in the country by March 2016, Jeswant said.
Funskool will sell Star War toys from its licensed distributors before the release of the Star Wars movie in December.
After an exclusive LEGO storeroom, this is the second retail outlet in the city. The store in Chennai, spread over 1,350 sq ft, has range of toys from Hasbro, LEGO, Leap Frog and licensed products from Disney, Warner Brothers and Nickelodeon. In addition, the store also houses Funskool brand toys – Giggles, Handycrafts, Play&Learn, manufactured at Goa and Ranipet facilities.
