There is no trust deficit between the government and the industry. It wants to support industry for employment, growth and exports, said Nitin Gadkari, Minister for Road, Transport and Highways, Shipping and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) here on Friday.

"We need to move from import substitution to export promotion and this could lead to further progress of MSME," said Gadkari.

He further added that sectors which are facing stress currently like real estate, should be taken care and helped first.

Gadkari also underlined that roads and highway sector had contributed 1.7 per cent to GDP, while investments in the shipping sector had touched ₹16 lakh crore. "We would want to emulate the similar progress in the MSME sector as well and make the sector more investor friendly," he added.

Emphasising on role of innovative ideas in the present government, he said, "A new website by the name of ‘Bank of Idea and Innovation’ is likely to be launched next week where industry will be invited to give suggestions and ideas for anything focused on development and growth".
