GreenPro (Green Product) certification is poised to address various ecological issues and concerns and to make operations sustainable, said experts at CII GreenPro Summit 2019 organised in Pune.

‘Green is value’

Tuyen D Nguyen, Principal Operations Officer, IFC, said, “In the green growth agenda, green is value, green is cost-saving and we strongly believe in this business model, where the private sector is coming together to connect the dots, and that’s where a big transformation is seen.”

ParasuRaman R, Chairman, Green Products and Services Council, and founding Chairman, IGBC, said eco-labelling is highlighted in the resource efficiency paper of NITI Aayog. There is strong potential to create new jobs in green production, eco-labelling of organic foods and green marketing, he said.

Green certification

“In the last 2-3 years, Green Products and Services Council has certified 640 products from 80 companies, covering sectors such as cement, paint, glass, tiles and cleaning chemicals,” he added.

India is going to face severe water crisis. The country has 17 per cent of the world’s population, but only 4 per cent of the world’s fresh water, said Gurmit Singh Arora, National President, Indian Plumbing Association.

Water recycling

JP Shroff, Chairman, IGBC – Pune Chapter , said CII Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) would ink an MoU with Credai to further accelerate the geen building movement in the Country.
