Consumers will have to wait a little longer to experience shopping at the first IKEA store in India at Hyderabad as the inauguration of the store has been postponed to August 9. It was originally planned to open on July 19.
“IKEA Retail India decided to move the date as it needs some more time to live up to its expected quality commitments towards customers and coworkers,” said Peter Betzel CEO, IKEA Retail India.
“Our main priority is to create an inspiring and safe experience for both customers and co-workers. Opening the first Indian IKEA store in Hyderabad means a lot to IKEA and we want to offer the best possible meeting with IKEA for the many Indian customers,” he said in a statement. While the Swedish retailer has begun to make the right kind of marketing and visibility initiatives, there has been considerable buzz about the store launch. And potential customers, many of them who have seen IKEA stores, keenly await its opening.
