Indian Bank is gearing up to sensitise first-time home buyers about the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana(PMAY).

“It is almost three years since the launch of the scheme, but the penetration has not been in line with expectations. We have, therefore, decided to create awareness about PMAY at the proposed Mini Property Fair scheduled at the Grand Regent here on September 8,” a bank official said.

The bank is targeting home loan business of ₹100 crore through this expo.

K Ramakrishnan, Deputy General Manager and Zonal Head, Coimbatore zone, said the region’s (comprising 62 branches) home loan disbursements registered a net increase of ₹45 crore during the current year.

“We are targeting a net increase of ₹170 crore from the home loan portfolio during the current year,” he said and added that it would include disbursements towards home improvement, home loan advantage and addition.

“More than 10 projects have been approved and leading builders will showcase their upcoming projects at the expo.

We have decided to waive the processing fee and prospective buyers will also get spot booking offer from builders,” he said.
