A Riverbed Technology report has revealed that digital transformation strategies within Indian organisations face critical roadblocks even as these organisations bet big on digital technology to achieve scale and reduce cost.

Sharing details of the survey, Bjorn Engelhardt, Senior Vice-President (APAC and Japan), Riverbed Technology, told BusinessLine that organisations face budget constraints, lack full visibility across the digital or end-user experience coupled with lack of skilled personnel.

With digital transformation becoming a top business priority across sectors — from banks to hospitals to infrastructure companies, nearly two-third of the respondents (business decision-makers) aver that critical digital services and applications fail, impeding deadlines and diminishing productivity more than once a month.

Hampered by lack of budget, visibility and personnel, these failures could impact businesses adversely resulting in loss of sales and revenue, notwithstanding productivity loss, said Engelhardt.

“To improve digital performance and overall digital experience, Indian business organisations would need to invest on accelerating development of applications, modernise networks and infrastructure to drive agility, understand and monitor end user experience, invest in machine learning, IoT and data analytics. Business decision makers believe that the use of cloud technologies would be important to their ongoing digital strategy,” he said.
