Meanwhile, Congress interim-head Sonia Gandhi held a virtual meeting with all the Congress-led states to review Covid situation. She urged for, “test, track and vaccinate”. “There must be transparency - Governments must reveal the actual numbers of infections and deaths across states, whether Congress ruled or otherwise," she said while adding that the focus should be on India's vaccination drive first and foremost, then only vaccines should be exported to other countries.

She slammed the Centre for its vaccine management and claimed that the Modi Government had mismanaged the situation. “It has exported vaccines and allowed a shortage to be created in India,” she added.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had also urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday in a letter to put halt on export of vaccine doses in the backdrop of rising Covid cases and to provide maximum number of vaccination to those who need it.

It is to be noted that on Friday, Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said that India has exported 6.45 crore vaccine shots to 85 countries, 3.58 crore doses have been supplied to 25 countries under commercial contracts, 1.04 crore to 44 countries as grants and 1.82 crore to 39 countries under COVAX.

Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal ruled out any lockdown in the national capital, but said that new restrictions will be soon announced to curb the spread of Covid-19 in the fourth wave that has hit the city State.
