Kalyan Jewellers has announced that it is withdrawing a commercial advertisement issued as part of their 'Trust Campaign' series after the advertisement raised the hackles of various bank employee unions.
A statement issued by Ramesh Kalyanaraman, Executive Director, Marketing, expressed “sincere regrets’' for any inadvertent hurt caused and clarified that the ad was being withdrawn with “immediate effect’’.
L&K Saatchi & Saatchi, one of Kalyan's creative advertisement agencies, had executed a storyline for the fifth edition of its 'Trust Campaign' series, which was released earlier this month.
"However, we understand the advertisement has hurt the sentiments of some people, including members of our esteemed banking community," the statement issued by Kalyanaraman said.
"Any such hurtful interpretation... being drawn is unintended. We state that the creative advertisement was a work of fiction and not a reflection of banking employees at large.
"Along with crores of Indians, we acknowledge the valuable contribution of the banking community to our country," the statement added.
