Ruling Congress party kicked off a campaign ‘Namma Kshetra, Namma Hone’ (our constituency, our responsibility) to fix responsibilities for party workers at the booth level.

Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President G Parameshwara presided over the meeting to sensitise the selected representatives of the booth-level workers in all the 224 Assembly constituencies.

Parameshwara called upon party workers to face the challenges head on in the forthcoming assembly elections.

“Let us work united for the success of the party and ensure a life of self-respect and dignity for all,” he added.

Talking after paying homage to Mahatma Gandhi, Parameshwara said Gandhiji’s teachings, principles and ideology was relevant not only in the country but all over the world, especially the ideals of non-violence, brotherhood of mankind and eradication of untouchability and poverty as well as all discrimination in the name of caste, creed and colour.

The Gandhian values and teachings were very relevant in a country divided by narrow and sectarian ideology, the KPCC chief said and lamented that the forces that killed the father of the nation were active even now.

Parameshwara said the Constitution of India promised a socialist, secular and democratic republic with social, economic and political justice, liberty of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship and equality of status and opportunity to promote fraternity and to strive for the unity and integrity of the nation.

“But sadly, there are persons who speak of changing and seek to dilute the Constitution. We need to stand up and fight for preserving and protecting our Constitution,” he explained.
