The Karnataka Department of Information Technology and Biotechnology announced on Monday that two flagship events, and Bengaluru India Bio 2017, would be held together from November 16 to 18.

This is the first time when both the events will be combined as the organisers feel that there is an increasing confluence of technology and biotech.

Priyank Kharge, Minister of State for IT, BT and Tourism, Government of Karnataka, said, “This year, we will focus on ‘Ideate, Innovate, Invent’.”

Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, CMD, Biocon said the biotech sector has to have IT as an integral part of their research and development. The objective of the joint event is to discover innovative ideas and solutions in IT and BT.
