Chetna Vijay Sinha, Director, Mann Deshi Mahila Bank and Mann Deshi Foundation, on Monday bagged the 2013 India Social Entrepreneur of the Year award by The Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship, a sister organisation of the World Economic Forum, in partnership with Jubilant Bhartia Foundation.
Sinha, who was conferred the award by Finance Minister, P. Chidambaram, was selected from over 200 participants by a jury that included Sudha Pillai, Member Secretary, Planning Commission, and Harish Hande, Managing Director, SELCO Solar Light, India.
Mann Deshi Mahila Bank and Mann Deshi Foundation, headquartered in Mhaswad, Maharashtra, aim to create one million rural women entrepreneurs in India by 2020, said a Schwab Foundation release.
