Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will commission the Hyderabad metro rail project on Tuesday, is set to unveil a metro plaza, which captures spirit of Hyderabad and its heritage.
This unique features of the Hyderabad Metro and a comparison of the two iconic Railways — the Nizam State Railway and the Hyderabad Metro — with significant impact on the history of Hyderabad are etched on the stainless steel arch panels.
This is likely to become a selfie point. The inaugural plaza developed by Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) next to the entrance of Miyapur station is located in the vast landscaped greenery.
The three arches in a water pond reflect the three metro rail corridors and each arch is designed as a rail track which vanishes into infinity, signifying the future expansion of the rail system.
This arch form signifies Hyderabad’s heritage like Charminar and other monuments but with a contemporary interpretation. Made out of steel, it expresses a ‘floating’ design. The whole structure is designed on an elliptical granite podium, with the oval shape signifying the closed loop system of Metro, according to NVS Reddy, MD, HMRL.
Architect Shankar Narayan designed the inaugural plaza and other facilities. The verdant landscape will become another hotspot for people to congregate and relax there, Reddy said.
