CodeCraft Technologies, a Mangaluru-based technology company, has made the task of requesting and donating blood easy with the help of the mobile app.

Dikshith Rai, Chief Executive Officer of Codecraft Technologies, told BusinessLine that the company’s ‘Savior’ app (which is an ambulance aggregator that provides single-click access to the nearest ambulance and brings down the response time of ambulances significantly) now provides an option to request and donate blood.

This feature puts the person requesting blood in touch with the nearby blood donor after matching blood group criteria. He said the app sends a notification to all matching donors within 10 km radius.

Explaining this, he said if a person requests for a ‘B+’ blood, the request goes to everyone who could possibly be a donor within a radius of 10 km.

The app user can also see the details of the nearby blood banks and call them directly.

‘Savior’

Terming ‘Savior’ as a health care ecosystem, he said this initiative includes key components such as a ‘mobile app’, ‘first responders’, ‘free pre-hospital care workshops’, ‘network hospitals’, and ‘blood donation’. The mobile app user can book an ambulance in the case of emergency just like booking a cab. There are no payments for booking, and the app runs even in the absence of a 3G/4G network, he said.

Stating that anyone can become a ‘Savior’ first responder, he said the trained volunteers will be informed through the app when someone near them requests an ambulance.

The volunteer can reach the person, and help until the ambulance arrives.

Volunteers for the first responder programme will receive free training at one of the pre-hospital care workshops. These workshops are conducted in collaboration with the renowned hospitals and doctors.

The knowledge gained at the workshop will help the participant to be well prepared to handle emergency situations, he said.

‘Savior’ has a network of 13 hospitals from Mangaluru, Moodbidri and Surathkal in Dakshina Kannada district. These are the hospitals whose ambulances are available on ‘Savior’ app.

He said that ‘Savior’ won silver in the ‘Design for Society’ category at the 11th International Design Awards in Los Angeles. There were around 3,200 entries from 95 countries for the award, he added.
