Even as Bengaluru is winning laurels for launching a city logo, Coimbatore is working on its own bit of city branding.
The industrial hub is all set to celebrate the 10th edition of the week-long Coimbatore Vizha from January 5.
This year’s carnival has plenty of new elements, such as ‘Double Takkar’, Coimbatore’s first open top bus, which will carry passengers across the city.
‘Taste of Kovai’, a food carnival focused on Kongu cuisine, will be held at VOC Ground on January 5-7.
And there’s ‘Art Street’, wherein an oviya sandhai (paintings marketplace) will be held on January 6-7 at Race Course. Music and movie festivals will also be held.
These are in addition to the 120-odd events planned, ranging from nature walks and drawing contests to sporting events, cleanliness campaigns, cookery competitions and cultural performances.
