The Andhra Pradesh Government will take all steps to promote IT in Visakhapatnam, Amaravati and other towns in the State such as Kakinada and Tirupati, according to State Minister for IT, Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Nara Lokesh.

He was speaking here on Friday after inaugurating 13 IT companies in different parts of the city.“Visakhapatnam is the major IT centre in the State but we are keen on development of information technology in Amaravati, Tirupati, Anantapur and other places also.”

He said the Government had already created 1.5 lakh sft and was in the process of developing another 5 lakh sft of IT space in Amaravati.

“I am personally supervising the works at the Kapuluppada IT Park and this is my third visit to Vizag after taking over as Minister for IT. It took me 12 months to open up Kapuluppada,” Lokesh said.

On the initiatives taken by the government, he said that incentives to IT companies had been streamlined, Preferential Market Access (PMA) was being given and the feedback was received on how the IT industry is progressing. He commended APEITA (AP Electronics and IT Agency) for providing training programmes on skill development to IT job-seekers.

He said the first tower of Signature Towers would be handed over soon and construction of the second one would begin .

Patra Corp COO Matt Easterlin said that the company would add 1,000 jobs in Vizag in the next one year and this was expected to be the largest workforce of an IT company in Vizag.
