The third phase of expansion at Technopark here is getting ready for inauguration by early 2013. Work on the modern twin-tower with one million sq ft in built up areas is complete, an official spokesman said here.
Finishing touches being applied to the approach road and surrounding area are progressing at a fast pace. Allotment of space has begun and nearly 40 companies have taken up space in the new facility. Some of the prominent names are HCL, Oracle and CapGemini, the spokesman said.
One floor each in the two towers spread over 92 acres designated as Special Economic Zone is being developed as smart business centre at a cost of Rs 3 crore.
A 110 KV substation has already been commissioned on the campus.
It boasts facilities ranging from exclusive bowling alley, incubation centre, conference hall, bank, ATM, cafeteria, gym, swimming pool and shopping malls to food courts, among others.
PLUG-AND-PLAY
Part of the building will be developed as plug-and-play facility for the benefit of small and medium players. The building will be fully air-conditioned and provided with 100 per cent backup power and fire protection.
Energy saving measures such as recycling of treated water for air conditioning and building management system and energy saving lighting system have also been incorporated.
Phase III expansion was undertaken with an investment of Rs 292 crore, said K.G. Girish Babu, chief executive officer, Technopark.
EMPLOYMENT POTENTIAL
It is expected to create about 40,000 direct and indirect employments. The twin-tower would be among the largest IT buildings in the country.
It will incorporate a futuristic design and adhere to latest trends and green building concepts. The new buildings are also considered among the largest to get LEED gold rating from the Indian Green Building Council for energy efficiency.
M. Vasudevan, senior business development manager, said that the twin-towers have been named as ‘Aanamudi’ and ‘Ponmudi’ after two mountain peaks.
There is an overwhelming demand for space. The third phase will take total area under coverage to 333 acres and the built-up area to 7.1 million square feet.
