About 55 pilgrims and tourists from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana safely reached their homes on Sunday after spending a harrowing time in quake-hit Nepal. They were among the few hundred Indians who returned from Khatmandu in batches.

Tension gripped the two Telugu States after news of the devastation in Nepal began to unfold.

The two State governments have set up control rooms in Hyderabad and Delhi to help the kin get in touch with stranded relatives.

Of the 55 who returned, 38 belong to Telangana. The officials have been collecting information from travel agents to ascertain the number of people who booked tickets to Nepal.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao held meetings with the officials to take stock of the situation.

The numbers for control rooms set up by Andhra Pradesh government are 011-23782388 (Delhi) and 040-23456005 in Hyderabad.

The coordinates for Telangana control rooms are 040-23454088; and 040-23454293 (fax); and email ids: commr_dm@telangana.gov.in and instaxx@telangana.gov.in.
