The Andhra Pradesh Government will set up soil test centres in all district headquarters soon. Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister Kanna Lakshminarayan has said farmers should use fertilisers based on the health of soil.

“We are going to take measures to make them use fertilisers customised to their specific needs instead of using generic formulae not taking into consideration the health of the soil,” he said.

He asked the officials of Agriculture Department, ICRISAT, and scientists at Acharya N. G. Ranga Agriculture University, to join hands and bring awareness among the farmers on the use of fertilisers scientifically.

He visited International Crops Research Institute for Semi Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), along with the Principal Secretary (Agriculture) Anil Kumar Punetha; Agriculture Commissioner Madhusudan Rao; and ANGRAU Vice-Chancellor Padmaraju on Friday.
