Alliance Broadcasting Pvt Ltd, promoted by VV Minerals group, is all set to launch its Tamil news channel News 7 .
The 24X7 channel, targeted predominantly at the global Tamil-speaking population, will focus on “socially responsible journalism in international standards, which is rare to come by here,” said Rajesh Sundaram, Editor of the TV channel.
Editorial teamAccording to him, the content will be governed by a seven-member editorial board, set up with experts and prominent people from different walks of life.
The board has designed an editorial policy for the channel and mandated guidelines that will ensure neutrality and the team will have the final say in all editorial matters.
The channel, which is likely to go on air before the end of October, will be available on platforms including direct-to-home, cable and internet protocol suite. It has tied up with DTH service providers such as Sun Direct, Airtel, Tata Sky and Videocon, Arasu and SCV Cable. The channel will also be distributed in countries such as Dubai, Malaysia, Singapore, South Africa, UK and Canada to start with.
“We have tied up with distributors across these countries to reach as many homes as possible,” said S Senthil Velavan, Operations Head of the channel.
According to sources in the know, total investment that has gone into Alliance Broadcasting is around ₹60 crore, and four Directors of VV Minerals — V Subramanian, J Muthu Rajan, V Vel Murugan and J Chenthil Rajan — hold equal stake in the company.
