Former Minister of State for Urban Development and Trinamool Congress MP, Sougata Roy, on Saturday said private players were shying away from urban infrastructure development projects.
“The private sector investment has been abysmal in urban infrastructure development,” Roy said while addressing a seminar on infrastructure development in the eastern and north-eastern states organised by the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
According to him, land acquisition is not the only problem in infrastructure projects and there is a need for private sector participation for financing the projects.
