Mumbai-based Carnival Cinemas has launched a five-screen multiplex in Dindigul in South Tamil Nadu marking the launch of its business in the State.
Considering the number of films released in Malayalam, Telugu and Tamil, Carnival intends to spread its roots in the smaller cities in South. Dindigul is about 50 km from Madurai.
In a press release, Shrikant Bhasi, Chairman of Carnival Cinemas, has said, “We have signed 50 screens in 11 districts of Kerala. By the end of 2014, Carnival Cinemas will become the largest holder of screens in Kerala.”
Apart from this, it has also signed 20 screens which would be operational in Tamil Nadu in the next six months and about 17 in Karnataka with further expansion plans in Andhra Pradesh.
Further, about 50 screens are slated to be opened in Madhya Pradesh. Carnival Cinemas hopes to have 300 screens across India in the next four years.
