A visiting Chinese delegation has evinced keen interest in investing in industrial projects either here or in China

The Consul-General of the People’s Republic of China, Liu Youfa, conceded that China is passing through the second round of industrial readjustment.

The process started three years back. It will take some more time to resettle the workers. “It is indeed a difficult period, but India and China can engage in a dialogue to strengthen our ties and industrial relations,” Dr Youfa said, when asked about the reported closure of textile mills in China.

A Chinese delegation of four, comprising Dr Youfa, Commercial Counsellor Liu Guoyu and two Vice Consuls — Chong Li and Cong Lu — are on a tour in this region, reaching out to industrialists here to consider investing in China and identifying the competitive advantages of such investments, both sides.

The Southern India Mills’ Association (SIMA) is organising the visit.

SIMA sources told Business Line that the delegation visited the hi-tech weaving park near Palladam and a couple of textile mills in the region. “The response has been quite positive. They are willing to have a dialogue, a tie-up with the investors here,” the source said.
