DLF Ltd has dismissed as baseless and unfounded allegations with respect to the grant of environment and Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) clearances to its project near Kadavanthara in Kochi.

The company learnt through media reports that the Kerala Government had constituted a three-member committee to go into the issue, Sanjey Roy, Senior Vice-President, Corporate Communications, said in a statement.

‘Factual position’

“We are confident that if called upon to represent its case before appropriate authorities, we will provide all the documents and copies of permissions in order to demonstrate that there are no infirmities,” Roy said.

Giving the ‘factual position,’ Roy said the land admeasuring 4.99 acres was purchased by DLF Ltd in 2007.

“The Chief Town Planner, Kerala, had confirmed in writing that our land was located in a residential area falling under residential zone of the Cochin Corporation,” the statement said.

‘Approvals obtained’

“All approvals for the project have been obtained under due process of law and applicable regulations. The construction has been carried out in accordance with our sanctioned building plan,” the statement said.

The CRZ clearance was granted after due scrutiny and was referred to the Ministry of Environment and Forests as well as Kerala State Environment Assessment Authority, it added.

The latter had issued the integrated environment-cum-CRZ clearance after due examination. The company advertised in both Malayalam and English dailies inviting objections, if any, within a 30-day period. No objections were received, Roy said.

“We then sought a fire licence which was received, following which we applied to Cochin Corporation for door number/occupation certificate. It was at this stage that we came to know through media reports that certain persons have raised objections to the CRZ clearance,” the statement added.
