Udhay Kumar, Managing Director of DRR Eye Care and Oculoplasty Hospital, could not have asked for more. The young doctor’s new eye care hospital near Chennai is still a few weeks from getting operational but it had a large crowd jostling to enter the 17,000 sq. ft facility. It was inaugurated by Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. N Srinivasan, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, India Cements Ltd and former President of Board of Control for Cricket in India, was also present.
The three-storey buildingwill soon accommodate advanced medical equipment to conduct complex diagnoses such as Optical Coherence Tomgraphy, which is used to detect retinal abnormalities.
The hospital has conducted over 20,000 cataract surgeries so far.
