The public sector FACT has registered 25 per cent growth in fertiliser sales in the first quarter of the current fiscal. The cumulative sales touched 1,68,223 tonnes against 1,34,506 tonnes last year.

The total sale of Factamfos, the largest selling complex fertiliser in South India, also witnessed a similar jump during April-June 2014 with a total outflow of 1,21,368 tonnes as compared to 1,02,643 tonnes of the previous year. It shows 18 per cent growth compared to last year's performance.

The sale of ammonium sulphate showed a steep jump during the period. While it was only 12,008 tonnes during the first quarter of last year, it went up to 34,693 tonnes this year. FACT has successfully executed a bulk order for supply of ammonium sulphate received from Tobacco Board, Bangalore.

The sale of bagged gypsum also picked up momentum with a total quantity of 5,174 tonnes being sold out as against 3,640 tonnes of last year.

A press statement issued here said that achievements were made in spite of the considerable delay in the onset of south-west monsoon which had an adverse impact on the agricultural and fertilizer fields.
