The Tamil Nadu Government hopes to partner with Singapore in strengthening the State’s infrastructure drawing on the skills and financial strength of Singapore.
An official press release said the Singapore’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Law, K Shanmugham, called on the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, J Jayalalithaa, today.
During the meeting she said Singapore’s expertise could support key projects and sectors including the development of a Finance City in Chennai which can complement regional financial centres; development of industrial parks, nodes and clusters including the Madurai-Tuticorin Industrial Corridor; and development of ports. Singapore could be a valued partner in implementing the Tamil Nadu Vision 2023 which is a long-term frame work for developing the State’s infrastructure at a cost of over ₹15-lakh crore.
Over 200 infrastructure projects have been identified under the plan.
