Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will inaugurate the five-day Silk Mark Expo 2014, being organised here by the Central Silk Board, on Friday.
Ishita Rai, Member-Secretary of the Central Silk Board, P Joy Oommen, Chairman and Managing of Kerala Finance Corporation and KS Menon, Chief Executive of Silk Mark will be present on the occasion.
Silk Mark is a certification mark for silk textiles, which certifies that the piece is made of pure natural silk. The certification is managed by the Silk Mark Organisation of India, set up by the Central Silk Board.
According to Menon, the expo takes place at a time when the industry is confronted with sales of fake, duplicate and substandard silk products.
