Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today said that he would strive to transform the State into a model State where there is no poverty and no inequality.

In his Independence Day address at Kurnool after unfurling the National Flag, he said the Government will work towards developing the State on the lines of Silicon Valley in the US.

During his address, he invited his Telangana counterpart K Chandrasekhar Rao for a dialogue to discuss unresolved issues and sort them out.

He said that the focus should be on welfare of people in both the States of AP and Telangana as the division was forced on the people. The Telugu people have developed the State and we need to strive for development of both the States.

Listing out various concerns of the State post the division, he said that the State is beginning its journey with a deficit of over Rs 15,000 crore. Instead of getting bogged down in all these issues, it is better to focus on development issues and the way forward.

Naidu said that the State will take up seven missions which will ensure all round development. Mentioning about the importance of farm sector to the State economy and the role of farmers, he said that the focus would be on ensuring the farm productivity goes up. He said that the major loan waiver scheme announced by the Government has never been attempted before.

While focusing on improving investment climate in the State, he said that the focus would be on welfare measures.

As a part of the development agenda, it is proposed to develop three mega cities, 13 smart cities, While Visakhapatnam, Tirupati and Vijayawada would be developed as mega cities, and it is proposed to develop 14 ports and airports to boost connectivity.
