Electricity employees in Andhra Pradesh called of their two-day flash strike late on Monday night following a settlement with the Government on wage revision.
Power supply was restored by midnight after the strike was called off.
The Government/managements of various utilities in the State agreed to a majority of the demands laid down by the electricity staff. The strike by electricity sector staff disrupted power generation and supply causing significant hardship to consumers for nearly 48 hours.
As per the settlement, the power staff will get an interim relief of 27.5 per cent with effect from April 1, 2014. The revision will cover staff of AP Transco, AP Genco and four distribution companies.
The Andhra Pradesh Government had estimated that the revision would mean additional financial burden of Rs 1,250 crore. It also wanted the staff not to strike work as the new Governments in Telangana and residual Andhra Pradesh will be formed early next month after the appointed date of June 2.
