Barring admission, do hospitals/clinics maintain a record of a patient’s visit for say ‘fever’? Not many do, until there is an outbreak of a particular virus.
“People wake up after an epidemic and this is largely because of lack of information,” says Srirama Raja, Chief Technology Officer of Chennai-based RT-MediBus.
Tie-ups To address such issues (which are often dismissed off as trivial) and make the hospital information management system more structured and transparent, RT-MediBus has come up with a solution. “It is a patient-centric and clinically focussed solution,” says Raja. RT-MediBus has tied-up with 8 hospitals across the country for implementing its Hospital Information Management system (HIMS).
The solution supports all stages of patient visits to the hospital from appointment scheduling, registration, out and in-patient management, clinical note-taking, e-prescription, various points of service such as lab, imaging, pharmacy, operation theatre, bed management and insurance and billing too.
More importantly, it integrates clinical ordering, points of service and billing real time, says Raja.
Stating that the company’s HIMS has been certified for ‘meaningful use’ in the US since 2011, the CTO said that the use of structured data helps track and generate timely information to doctors and administrators on the patients’ condition.
Services Registered patients will be able to access their health records on the patient portal, seek appointments, subscribe to reminder service and even network with patients with similar ailments. The company is trying to launch the solution for a virtual hospital. “This is expected to happen in a month’s time,” he said, adding, “We are gearing up to launch ‘clinic in a can’. This product is in the pipeline.”
