Citizens in Karnataka can soon make online request for various services under the Sakala programme. Sakala provides services to citizens within a stipulated timeframe. The programme is implemented under the Karnataka Guarantee of Services to Citizens Act.
Addressing presspersons here on Wednesday, Shalini Rajneesh, Secretary of Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms, Karnataka, said that the Government wants to make Sakala services online by March-end or April.
As of now, citizens have to apply for the particular services at the offices of the departments concerned. At present, 265 services of various government departments are under Sakala programme.
Nearly 1.5 crore people in Karnataka have got the benefit of Sakala programme, and 97.65 per cent of these services were provided in time.
On the overall performance of Sakala programme in the state, she said Ramanagar district topped the list in providing services under Sakala programme. While Uttara Kannada district came second, Dakshina Kannada district occupied the third position, she said.
Shalini Rajneesh said that the implementation of Sakala programme in Karnataka has attracted the attention of other states and countries now. Apart from many states in the country, other nations such as Bangladesh and Afghanistan have shown interest in Karnataka model of guaranteeing services to citizens.
