The Institution of Engineers (India) is organising an all-India seminar on ‘waste management and cost reduction in construction’ here on Friday. The event is being held under the aegis of the civil engineering division board of the institution with Laurie Baer International School of Habitat Studies, and Kerala State Nirmithi Kendra, Government of Kerala. The seminar will have papers based on different issues of construction waste management and cost reduction in the construction industry such as issues, challenge and experiences in construction waste management; solid waste management in the construction industry; managing construction waste; cost effective and environmentally-friendly techniques in construction; cost reduction; and use of locally available materials in construction. The seminar is open to public and registration is free, said V. Vijayakumar, honorary secretary, of the Kerala State centre of the Institutions of Engineers (India).
