Aiming for a 34 per cent growth in the Onam festival season, Sony India is expecting a business of Rs 170 crore from the Kerala market.

Unveiling the festival offers here on Friday, Sunil Nayyar, Head (Sales), Sony India, said the company clocked a business of Rs 127 crore in the season last year.

Sony India has also set a target of Rs 370-crore sales revenue from Kerala during the current fiscal against Rs 290 crore registered last fiscal.

As part of the marketing strategy in the promotional period till September 13, he said, the company would invest Rs 6.5 crore towards above the line (ATL) and below the line (BTL) activities and increase its channel counters from 400 to 475 in FY 13.

On business plan, he said Sony plans to sell 41,000 units of its flagship brand Bravia in the festival season thereby achieving a share of 33 per cent of flat panel display market in Kerala. The figure last year was 29,250 units.

The company is also aiming 9,000 units of cyber-shot to maintain a 50 per cent share of the total market.

Sony plans to grow 16 per cent this year in Vaio laptops and capture 23 per cent market share by selling 10,000 units. The company which has launched a new range of Xperia smart-phones plans to sell 18,760 units, thereby aiming to be among the top players in the Indian smart-phone market.

Referring to national sales, Nayyar said that Sony India is targeting a business of Rs 11,000 crore in FY 14 against Rs 8,200 crore achieved in FY 13.

To question, he said the rupee depreciation has made an impact on the input cost. “We have decided not to disturb the customers for the time being. If the rupee depreciates further, there could be an impact on prices.

However, Onam festival season has been exempted from the hike,” Nayyar said.
