Farmers should take advantage of the subsidy scheme introduced by the State Government for cultivation of green fodder that has a bearing on the health of dairy animals, said District Collector L Subramanian here.
He was inaugurating the ‘Green Village Farmers Club’ sponsored by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) in association with the Bank of India in Vedanpuliankulam village in Tirunagar Block in the district, recently.
He urged the farmers to acquire knowledge about the latest technology and disseminate the same among their fraternity as part of Farmers Club Programme to derive maximum benefits.
Speaking earlier, R Shankar Narayan, Assistant General Manager, Nabard, said that the organisation has come up with the unique concept as a friend of the bank to act as a bridge between banking and farming, with the dictum of “ One farmers club in 1 Village” comprising 20 farmers who represent the farming community in the village. The fodder grown, besides helping to serve their needs, would help them earn an extra income as the surplus fodder could be sold to dairy farmers .
