Tamil Nadu Government has allocated Rs 23.75 crore towards constructing 19 women hostels across the state.
These hostels with a total capacity of accommodating 1,000 working women would come up in Tiruvallur, Thanjavur, Thiruppur, Perambalur, Villupuram, Vellore, Coimbatore, Tiruchirapalli, Tirunelveli and Sivaganga districts, a government release said today.
Of these, Chennai and Kancheepuram districts would get six and three hostels respectively, it said.
The Chief Minister has also ordered for creation of eight posts to work in these hostels, it said.
The state government already runs eight working women hostels in Chennai, Cuddalore, Tiruchirapalli, Pudukkottai Madurai, Dharmapuri and Tuticorin districts.
