The Coimbatore district unit of the Tamil Nadu Association of Cottage and Micro Enterprises (TACT) has urged the State Government for an early release of subsidy for the purchase of generators by the micro and small enterprises.
J James, Coimbatore district President of TACT, in a letter to K Shanmugam, Finance Secretary, Government of Tamil Nadu, said the State Government had offered 25 per cent subsidy to entrepreneurs for purchase of generators when the State faced acute power shortage.
ReliefThe Government’s gesture came as a great relief to the entrepreneurs who were hit by acute power shortage and several thousand promoters of small and micro units started buying generators from 2012.
But since January 2013, those who had purchased generators have been waiting for the release of the subsidy amount by the State Government. He said nearly 1,800 entrepreneurs in both Coimbatore and Tirupur districts were yet to receive the generator subsidy amounting to 20,000 to ₹60,000 each.
James said the release of the outstanding subsidy would come as a great relief to the beneficiaries since they are suffering from lack of job orders even though the power situation is comfortable.
