Tamil Nadu’s revenue from stamp duty and registration jumped 60 per cent in April 2013, according to an official press release.
Registration Department has reported a revenue of Rs 722.06 crore during the month with 2.27 lakh documents registered. The number of documents registered has shown a 15 per cent growth, the release said.
The State Government will set up District Registrar offices in all the districts, the release said. As of now district level offices are not present in Thiruvallur, Theni, Perambalur and Thiruvarur. The administrative jurisdictions of the revenue districts and registrations will be aligned with each other, the release added.
Members of the public will soon be able to fix appointments with the subregistrars to get their documents registered without waiting at the offices.
The Minister for Commercial Taxes and Registrations B.V. Ramanaa reviewed the operations of the Department and discussed measures to expedite the various proposals announced in the Assembly, the release said.
