State Bank of Travancore (SBT) has announced its Prathibha Samman for three eminent persons for outstanding achievements.
The winners are agriculture scientist M.S. Swaminathan; civil servant T.K. Jose; and expat businessman K.E. Faizal.
Swaminathan has been chosen for contributions in implementing the Green Revolution as also for creative efforts at promoting development of agriculture.
Jose stands out for innovation in conceiving, implementing and executing the Kudumbasree Mission and empowerment of women through self-help groups.
K.E. Faizal has made a mark for himself as an expat businessman in the UAE and has been active in infrastructure, healthcare, education, hospitality and agriculture sectors.
The Faizal-Shabana Foundation that concerns itself with the well-being of the less privileged too has been doing praiseworthy work.
Prathibha Sammans recognise achievements in one’s chosen field of activity; community services; humanitarian activities; or charity. Each award comprises a memento, a gold medal and a citation.
