To kindle entrepreneurial spirit in north Karnataka, TiE Hubli chapter is planning to hold business plan competition – Big Idea 50K – for students and young people.

“The competition is targeted at post graduate/under graduate students and young start-ups operating (less than 6 months),” Mahesh V K, Programme Manager, TiE Hubli, told Business Line .

Explaining the objective of holding such business plan, he said, “It gives an opportunity for entrepreneurs to showcase their ideas and the competition process helps stimulate and nourishes the entrepreneurial spirit amongst students and young people.”

Also as part of the competition short listed participants are to get mentoring and remould their idea into an implement able business plan.

Mahesh said top 10 teams who qualify will be mentored by the Charter Members of TiE Hubli. Top three winners are to get one year free TiE membership as well as mentorship to strengthen their business plans.

In addition to mentoring and project revaluation, for student category TiE Hubli is offering top three ideas with one year free student membership at TiE Hubli along with prize money of Rs 50,000, Rs 25,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively.

TiE Hubli chapter has been founded in 2009 by serial entrepreneur and co-founder and chairman of Sycamore Gururaj Deshpande.

Since its inception the organisation has grown in strength and now has a base of 200 active members, spread across Hubli-Dharwad and Belgaum.

To keep the entrepreneurial spirit alive, TiE Hubli has been engaging in activities like seminars, inspirational talks, networking meets for the members of TiE, students and the general public on regular basis, said Mahesh.
