West Bengal needs to market its unique selling proposition (USP) and project itself as an investment favourable destination, Andreas Waldraff, Chairman, UBF.B GmbH, Germany, said here on Friday.
According to him, compared to the western states of Maharastra and Gujarat, Bengal is yet to project itself or its "value proposition" or the USP that will help draw manufacturing industries.
"I am not saying that West Bengal does not have anything to market, but it is still not visible when compared to a Maharastra or Gujarat," Waldraff told reporters on the sidelines of the CII-organised manufacturing conclave here in the city.
Maharastra has projected itself as a manufacturiing hub with over 160 German companies operating out of Pune. Similarly, Coimbatore is looked upon as a textile manufacturing hub; while Bangalore is considered as an IT investment destination.
"When it comes to investments, Pune and Maharashtra or even Bangalore are no brainers," he added.
