With heavy inflows due to release of surplus waters from dams in Karnataka, the water level in the Mettur dam today stood at 115 feet, just five feet short of its full level of 120 feet.
The inflow was 1.32 lakh cusecs and the outflow was 19,000 cusecs, PWD sources said.
The sources said the dam would touch its full level by tonight if the heavy inflows continued.
The first flood warning had already been issued to downstream areas. The second would be issued when the level touches 117 feet and the third after it reaches its full level.
