The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Gujarat has set its eyes on the local civic body polls approaching by the end of this year. The party has begun a massive booth-level organising movement to gain strength in the largest city of the state - Ahmedabad.

The movement aimed at spreading the AAP's objectives and sensitise people about the local issues by approaching them door-to-door at booth-level.

"AAP has launched an initiative called 'Swaraj nu Shukan' to strengthen and unite the common man at booth levels within Ahmedabad municipality area. As part of the launch, representatives from all the 64 wards of the city had gathered near Dandi bridge in Ahmedabad," said a statement from the party.

The movement will continue for 10 days and will cover entire city by consolidating volunteers in respective wards and distribute salt as a mark of auspicious beginning.

Party volunteers will also assist in getting proper solutions to ward-level civic issues, the statement said. Notably, AAP founder and New Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal had held a large rally in Ahmedabad ahead of the Lok Sabha polls last year. The rally had seen participation of all sections of the society.
