Agri machinery fair at Puttur from Nov 2

Arecanut Research and Development Foundation (ARDF) is expecting one lakh farmers to attend agriculture machinery fair at Puttur on November 2-4.

Addressing presspersons here on Friday, K. Padmanabha, president of Central Arecanut and Cocoa Marketing and Processing Cooperative (Campco) Ltd, and managing trustee of ARDF, said members of 17 cooperative institutions from Karnataka and Kerala will participate in the three-day fair.

The event, jointly organised by ARDF, Campco, and Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology will be conducted at Puttur in Dakshina Kannada district.

Nearly 150 stalls featuring various agriculture machinery will be on display. To encourage engineering students, the fair will accommodate some of the student projects from various engineering colleges.

Apart from exhibition of machinery, there will be technical sessions on various topics related to agriculture, he said.

Stating that many banks have agreed to participate in the fair, Padmanabha said the organisers will request those banks to extend financial assistance to some of the innovative agriculture machinery manufacturers.

D. Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala and president of ARDF, will inaugurate the event on November 2. Deputy Chief Minister K.S. Eshwarappa and Union Power and Corporate Affairs Minister Veerappa Moily will attend the inaugural function.

Former Chief Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda, and C.T. Ravi, Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister, will participate in the valedictory session on November 4.

Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has been invited for the valedictory session. He is yet to confirm participation.
