Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy today inaugurated the Phase II-B Patancheru to Shameerpet stretch, part of the 158-km ambitious Outer Ring Road project.

This 71.30 km stretch is executed under six contract packages. The Government has taken up this project with an outlay of Rs 3,558 crore. The project was executed with loan assistance from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The outer ring road is connected to inner road network and significantly eases the drivability on this stretch without having to get into min city networks.

The construction cost of these three packages was estimated at Rs 1,224 crore. Except for length of 3 km, the eight-lane carriageway has been completed.

The State Government has taken up the ambitious 158 km outer ring road network and now is also developing radial roads. The Government expects the network to provide new focus areas for growth.

Radial road No 15 covering a 15.15 km stretch is being developed with an outlay of Rs 48.50 crore and another radial road No. 16 has been taken up with an outlay of Rs 69.51 crore. The latter has been entrusted to a consortium of KNR Construction and its partner SLMI. Work on this will commence later this month and is expected to be executed within 18 months.

The process to identify the developer for Road 15 is now under way.
