The Andhra Pradesh Film Chamber of Commerce will go to the polls on Sunday. Two panels, representing the small and big producers, are in the fray. While the small producers are represented by Mr Tammareddy Bharadwaja, the big producers are represented by Mr 'Sravanti' Ravikishore.
The small producers have been alleging that they have not been getting theatres to screen their films. “A handful of producers have taken control of the majority of theatres, leaving the small producers with no screens,” Mr Bharadwaja alleged.
They promised that they would reduce lease margins, giving more income for distributors and producers. “We will convince the Government to remove value-added tax and service tax and reduce the additional burden on the producers,” Mr Bharadwaja said.
