The new Government in Andhra Pradesh has introduced a weekly day-off system for the police to give them rest and enable them to function more efficiently.
The new system came into effect from Wednesday. Police personnel from the level of a constable to the circle inspector would be given a day-off every week. Those above the rank of CI would not be included in the new scheme.
Satish Kumar, a police constable at Anakapalle Town Police Station, said, “I feel very happy and so are my wife and children.”
City Police Commissioner Mahesh Chandra Laddha said, “We have planned the weekly-off system for every department, and there will not be any adverse impact on the law order situation, traffic and other functions.”
He said that more than the policemen, the weekly-off system had brought smiles on the faces of their family members.“Police job is always stressful. Having a weekly-off and spending time with family will definitely give cops a break,” he added.
