Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today described his China visit as extremely fruitful and said the tour will lead to number of follow up initiatives both Government to business and business to business.

Addressing a press conference here today, Naidu said a number of memoranda of understanding were inked during the trip to China by the Government. These would be followed by visits by the Chinese delegations for follow up initiatives and potential areas of their interest.

The sessions on attracting investments into Andhra Pradesh in the areas of electronics, infrastructure development and manufacturing sectors have resulted in a number of business to business pacts.

Naidu said that he would soon submit a report on the China visit to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the areas that could interest mutual cooperation between the two countries and also areas where Chinese companies are interested in taking part in various development activities, including construction of the new capital and other infrastructure projects in Andhra Pradesh.

Apart from wooing some companies in the manufacturing sector such as mobile phone manufacturers and electronics companies, there were a number of initiatives to cooperate with small and medium sized enterprises and also attract visitors as a part of the Buddhist tourism circuit.

“I would suggest visa on arrival facility for Chinese visitors,” he said.

Asked about the need for special status for Andhra Pradesh, which continues to elude it, Naidu said during a recent meeting with the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, various issues relating to grant of special status were discussed and how this was necessary to ensure a level playing field for Andhra Pradesh. Barring 15 per cent additional depreciation benefit and 15 per cent capital allowance, nothing much has come from the Centre. The special status was crucial to make the State a lot more competitive, he said.
